The highest town in Mallorca is probably best-known as the place where the Polish composerFrédéric Chopinand his lover, the French writerGeorge Sand,spent the winter of 1838/9, staying in rented rooms in the monastery. And, as a result, it’s probably Mallorca’s most visited town.

Chopin travelled to Mallorca alongside the famous writer George Sand in 1838. They rented a cell inside the Cartuja´s Monastery where they used to live. During his stay He composed some great works such as Preludes and Scherzos . He sold his piano to a mallorcan family and went back to Paris with his own family.
